The 2013 ACI National Home Performance Conference and the ACI Home Energy Leadership Summit will be co-located and held consecutively starting on April 29, 2013 in Denver, Colorado. These events will bring together thousands of dedicated professionals nationwide in the home performance and weatherization industry for the largest conference and trade show of its kind.

The ACI Home Energy Leadership Summit will be held on  Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30. This is an executive level event designed to bring together the key leaders from the public and private sector who are working to drive residential energy efficiency into the mainstream. The goal of the Summit is to look out towards our ideal future and a possible road-map to get there, inspiring innovation and collaboration in the marketplace. This event will focus on utilities, finance, contractors and homeowners.

The ACI National Home Performance Conference will be held on Tuesday, April 30 through Friday, May 3. This includes workshops, educational sessions, evening sessions, trade show, and networking receptions. Short courses will be offered for an additional fee.

Tour of IKEA Sustainability Innovations - 05/08/2013

Centennial, CO 80112Join the Colorado Renewable Energy Society for an exclusive behind the scenes tour of IKEA's 420,000 sq ft store in Centennial. IKEA, the leader in Home Furnishings has installed a geothermal heating system to help with heating and cooling the building. The store is IKEA's first store in the United States to use geothermal technology. The store also has 2,212 solar power panels that generate nearly half a megawatt of power. We'll meet in the store's cafe area at 9:30 AM and the tour will wrap up before noon. Limited to 20 participants.

Sustain Arvada Festival - 05/11/2013

The Sustain Arvada Festival Saturday is May 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (rain date is Saturday, May 18; 2013 )  in Olde Town Arvada (57th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth Boulevard. The festival will be free fun for everyone and a great place to learn more about supporting local choices and creating a sustainable community.

Focused on living sustainably, the festival includes exhibits, adult's and children's activities, food, lively music, and informative presentations – all based on learning fun and easy ways to conserve resources and enjoy living sustainably through earth-friendly practices. Spend a day at the festival and learn how to trim your energy waistline; recycle, reclaim, repurpose, and reuse; reduce waste; conserve resources; and practice community sustainability. Learn how the City of Arvada is conserving resources, generating its own power, recycling and composting, and leading the way in responsible governmental sustainability.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy activities including: Exhibitor demonstrations of eco-friendly products and services for a sustainable lifestyle, (See related links for participating exhibitors.) kids' art projects and earth-friendly games, a 24-foot climbing wall, pedalpalooza (crazy human powered contraptions), a chance to pet alpacas, a display of award-winning Earth Day posters from local 5th and 6th grade students, lively DJ music, and great food.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool, take a bus, walk, or ride a bike to this event. A secured bicycle valet area will be available. Produced by the Arvada Festivals Commission and the Arvada Sustainability Advisory Committee, this event demonstrates our support of the preservation of natural resources and our commitment to fostering economic prosperity, environmental stewardship, and community vitality. This event is a Zero Waste event where the majority of the waste is diverted from the landfill through recycling and composting. Certifiably Green Denver and the Downtown Denver Partnership are hosting a Green Business Showcase upstairs at Wynkoop Brewery on Monday, June 17th!

Vendors will showcase green products and services available to help Colorado businesses advance their sustainability efforts. Mayor Hancock will be presenting newly certified businesses with their signed plaque to recognize their achievement with the Certifiably Green Denver program. Join us for an afternoon of networking and learn how your business, restaurant or hotel can benefit from working towards environmental sustainability!
