Viva Streets - 08/11/2013

11 am -3 pm

Tennyson Street in Denver

44th and Tennyson

Denver, CO 80218

Bike Denver

On August 11, 2013 LiveWell Colorado and Bike Denver will introduce Viva Streets to the Highland neighborhood on Tennyson Street creating a car-free parkway for all Denverites to enjoy.  The goal of Viva Streets is to introduce the public to the many benefits that come from increased walking and biking in our local communities, and highlight safe and active transportation.

Viva Streets has been a tremendous success for the past two years in the Park Hill area of Denver, bringing together more than 10,000 people as we celebrated our City streets' potential to get people moving and to strengthen Colorado's healthy, active culture. Closed to cars, the streets came alive with walkers, bikers, runner, strollers, hula-hoopers, dancers, paraders, musicians, healthy food purveyors and others who wanted to play in the streets for the day.

In 2012, Viva Streets participants enjoyed a variety of fun, healthy activities along the street as walkers and bikers moved up and down the route, including:

Making salsa and guacamole at the Chipotle Activity Tent

Getting photos taken at the Delta Dental of Colorado Healthy Smiles Photo Booth

Getting hands on at the Cigna Go You! Wellness Zone

Participating in yoga and zumba demonstrations; cruising on bikes as part of the bike rodeo and "strider" course; enjoying face painting, healthy food trucks, cooking demonstrations, bike safety checks, gardening demonstrations, and much more.
