Nearly 30,000 kids in the Denver metro area associate energy conservation with a life sized hog dressed in leather. This seemingly menacing character doesn’t faze kids, but instead has captured their attention and raised their awareness about energy efficiency.
The award winning Energy Hog Traveling Road Show is an interactive school assembly program that teaches 3rd-5th grade students about the sources of energy, how we waste energy and how to conserve energy.
During the 45 minute long program, students interact with the Energy Hog and his friends by answering questions and participating in a game show. All participating students receive educational materials that reinforce the message of energy savings. The assembly and the activity guides meet Colorado Model Content Standards.
CESC is funded by Energy Outreach Colorado and Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) to bring the Energy Hog Traveling Road Show to metro area schools. Scheduling the Energy Hog Traveling Road Show for the 2008-09 school year will start in August 2008.
