Home Performance with ENERGY STAR ® Makeover Contest
Congratulations to the Clark family for winning the 2007 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Makeover Contest.
Rosemarie Clark’s home was chosen because it had the greatest potential for energy savings, Utilities spokesman Dave Grossman said.
“Every whole-house upgrade is unique, but typical upgrades — like the one done for Rosemarie — reduce energy consumption by 40 to 80 percent,” he said, noting the value of
Clark
’s upgrade is estimated at $20,000.
The Clarks were selected from thousands of applicants to receive up to $50,000 of energy efficiency upgrades to the southern Colorado Springs home, which was described as very inefficient – hot in the summer and chilly in the winter.
Improvements will include increased insulation and air sealing, new heating equipment, windows and lighting. As a result, the Clarks will experience a significant drop in their energy bill.
The makeover contest – a partnership of Springs Utilities, E-Star, ENERGY STAR and the Colorado Energy Science Center – was made possible by these generous sponsors:
